Reflecting, Celebrating & Moving Forward From Various Perspectives

The past 18 months, since Covid arrived, has been quite a journey for us all. We have all had our share of challenges, grieving losses, exciting discoveries and hopefully a few profound epiphanies along the way.

Since the Quartet began it's role as the worship committee 8 months ago, the members of the Quartet had a very dynamic adventure trying to offer various forms and ways in experiencing spiritual nourishment to a wide range of needs, abilities, values and beliefs within the SPPC community. The Quartet started off by offering articles, podcasts, videos, music, local images and inspiring quotes on the website each week.

Due to a high demand to for greater connection, after almost a year of many of us not seeing each other, the Quartet began researching ways to create a church service over zoom. This resulted in SPPC hosting ministers and speakers each Sunday morning from all over North America with very interesting and thought-provoking ideas and perspectives, leaving the participants with lots to ponder and integrate into their lives. The zoom services are now a rich library that sits on our website. One of the easiest ways to access these invaluable recordings is to simply click on them from your computer or phone and listen to them as you do daily tasks like cooking, going for a walk or driving.

Church on Zoom

This Sunday, the Quartet is inviting all of you to join us as we celebrate the closing of this adventure by reflecting over the great moments we experienced over zoom. Whether you attended regularly, occasional or not at all, this Sunday will be a great time to use our reflecting to prepare us for the next exciting adventure ahead — the welcoming of Rev. Valerie into our community, our congregations and into our hearts as she takes over providing us with spiritual nourishment and guidance. How can we use all the collective wisdom we were offered from our amazing guest speakers as we move forward. Not sure? Then we invite you to join us this Sunday.

Contemporary Selection

An excellent TED talk by Karen Armstrong, a well-known speaker and author of several books about religion. In more recent years, she has become an international expert on compassion after she released her booked Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life. Now more than ever we need to use our religion and traditions to live a life of compassion rather than using it to build walls of judgment. How well are we using our religion to live The Golden Rule day to day?

Enjoy this inspiring talk…

My Wish: The Charter for Compassion

...so people can look at their tradition, reclaim it, and make religion a source of peace in the world which it can and should be.
