Rural Response

The Rural Response Program provides safety, support and hope by reducing barriers to service for underserved women living in the rural communities of north Dufferin. The Rural Response Program strives to decrease identified obstacles to service (i.e. transportation, isolation, child care, and access to after-hours service), and develop a crisis response strategy for responding to rural needs, and increase collaboration, presence and awareness across existing services and community members.

The Rural Response Program is based out of the Mel Lloyd Centre located in Shelburne and provides support to women in crisis within the rural areas of Dufferin County. The Rural Response Program will allow for up to 6 crisis counselling sessions, providing women with abuse education, safety planning, and appropriate community referrals. The Rural Response Counsellor is able to meet with women in the community.
